The i-Train Podcast Episode 4 (part one)

Born and raised in The Bronx, New York, Courtney Thomas Jr. started running competitively at the age of 10 and continued in sports for over 15 years. A former Track & Field athlete from Lehman College, he graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Recreation Education, specializing in Coaching and Sports Performance. He's also a USA Track & Field certified Level 1 Coach. In his first year as an assistant at Hunter College in New York, he helped lead the team to both Indoor and Outdoor Track CUNYAC Division III Championships. In 2015, he assisted with the sprinters and jumpers at Calhoun High school while helping lead the team to win their league in the Outdoor Track Season. Courtney attributes his ability to coach runners to understanding the basic principles of technique and psychology. His motivation is to give back to the community and give the youth an outlet that helped keep him in the right path as a kid. His motive is to create a foundation built on the importance of succeeding in the classroom, leading to success in athletics. He's driven to not only enhance his student-athletes' abilities in competition, but more importantly to give them the necessary tools to take on any challenge in life.
